Mark is a graduate of MCPHS-Manchester, Class of 2006.  He started working in Family Practice in Manchester in March of 2007.  Since June of 2007, he has been working at Dartmouth-Hitchcock in Nashua, NH as an Orthopaedic PA.  He also moonlights doing some weekend call for the General Surgery practices at Southern NH Medical Center and also works Urgent Care for Dartmouth in Nashua.  Mark was the Vice President of the NHSPA last year and was elected as President for this year. In his previous career, he was an assistant professor at Rivier College and Plymouth State University teaching in the Health Sciences program.  Mark received his Ph. D. in Exercise Physiology in 2000.

When he is not using his PA education, he enjoys working around the house and working out.  He previously held a certification as a Strength and Conditioning Coach and a Personal Trainer. His career goals are to eventually get back into teaching part-time in a PA program while continuing to learn and grow in his orthopaedic practice.

Mark lives in Bow, NH with his wife Nancy and two children.

Heather is an Assistant Professor at MCPHS Manchester and a part time PA in pediatrics at Dartmouth Hitchcock Clinic in Manchester. She received her PA education at George Washington University’s PA program, completed a PA pediatric residency at Norwalk Hospital/Yale University and received her Masters of PA Studies degree from University of Nebraska Medical Center. Heather is proud to have been part of the PA profession for the past 17 years and in PA education for 2 ½ years. She is very interested in providing opportunities for PA students to give back to the community and to the PA profession. Heather lives in Amherst, NH with her husband and 2 children.

Monica Ball has been part of the NHSPA Board of Directors since 2005. She began as a student representative for two years, was later elected secretary, and currently serves as treasurer. She is also part of the Reimbursement and CME Committees.

Monica has been working as a Physician Assistant since February of 2007 in primary care for Catholic Medical Center. She also works part-time in surgery for NH Surgical Specialists, primarily working with bariatric patients. As a civilian employee, Monica helps National Guard Soldiers in need of conditioning to both pass their physical fitness tests and for weight management.

Before becoming a Physician Assistant, Monica worked part-time as a Personal Trainer for eight years, and also worked as an EMT-Basic. Her undergraduate degree was in Biology from Clark University, and her graduate work was completed at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences

Sarah is the current NHSPA secretary. She grew up in Bozrah, CT and Fishers Island, NY until college, when she attended the University of New Hampshire. Sarah graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelors degree in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology. After college, she worked for three years as an EMT-B and an ER technician in Norwich, CT. She graduated from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in December 2009 with a Masters in Physician Assistant Studies.

Sarah currently works as a physician assistant at the Ear, Nose, and Throat Specialists of Southern NH in Manchester, NH.


Mo PaquetteMaurice Paquette - Member at Large
Maurice "Moe" Paquette has been a member of the Board of directors since 2009. Mr. Paquette currently works as an Occupational Health Physician Assistant and Clinical Manager for Concentra Medical Centers in Concord, NH. He has worked in Occupational Medicine since 2008. Prior to becoming a PA Moe worked for 15 years in Emergency Medical Services throughout NH, and in the Boston area. The last 10 Years were spent working as a Paramedic. It was a job he loved so much, he continues to hold his Paramedic Certification, and works perdiem for some local Ambulance services, and his Local Fire Department. Moe also keeps his hansds in the Emergency World working per diem as a PA in the Emergency Room at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH. When he is not working, he loves spending time with his Wife, Leah, and his Dogs at their new house in Pembroke.

Edward J. Laverty is a Physician Assistant in Emergency Medicine at Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook, New Hampshire where he joined the staff in 1997. Educated at Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, Ed has 17 years of experience as a Physician Assistant and over 25 years of experience in the field of Emergency Medicine. With his extensive background in EMS, Ed has been appointed to a variety of Emergency Medical Service Committee’s and Boards, including his current role as Chairman of the Region 5 EMS Council and member of the Region 5 CME Committee.

He became an Assistant Deputy Medical Examiner in 2002 helping to serve the State of New Hampshire in scene investigation, data and evidence collection.

To aid in his goal of supporting the role of the Physician Assistants, Ed is serving his second term as Member at Large, on the New Hampshire Society for Physician Assistants (NHSPA) and also serves as their CME Committee Chairman.

He was recently elected by the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital Professional Staff Committee to serve as the Chief of the Medical Staff and to membership on the UCVH Board of Directors.

A gifted instructor, Ed often teaches at BLS, ACLS, and PALS Courses on behalf of the North Country Educational Consortium. He is also an Instructor Coordinator for EMT-Basic and EMT- Intermediate courses. He guest lectures and regularly serves as a preceptor for students at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Science as well as for the Physician Assistant Program at Franklin Pierce University.

Ed was the recipient of the 2001 Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital Employee of the Year Award; received the 2006 Region 5 Leadership Award; and was the 2009 honoree of the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy & Health Science Physician Assistant Preceptor of the Year. Raised in Point Lookout, New York, Ed resides in Colebrook with his three children and two dogs.

Vonda is a graduate of the Wichita State PA Program in Wichita, Kansas, Class of 2000.  She started working with Dr Michael Romanowsky in Family Practice in May of 2000. In addition, she conducts medical rounds at Hampstead Hospital in Hampstead, NH.

Vonda was born and raised in Arizona and attended the University of Arizona where she completed her Bachelors degree in Exercise and Sports Science.  While attending school she worked as an Athletic Trainer and continues to maintain her Athletic Trainer Certification.

Susan has been involved in NHSPA since 2001. She moved to NH from MA to join a private urology practice. Currently she works in Nashua at Lahey Urology at Nashua, NH.

Her interests are in overactive bladder, urinary incontinence, interstitial cystitis and prostate cancer. She has been NHSPA president from 2002-2004 and again in 2009. She is also the Chief Delegate to the House of Delegates for the AAPA. I have been a member of the Government Affairs and Reimbursement Committee for the AAPA from 2004-2008. I am committed to working at the state and national level to represent our profession and keep us at the table when discussions occur regarding health care reform. I feel we are meant to be part of the health care team and can serve the citizens of NH well. I look forward to working with NHSPA in the coming year.

Danny BallentineDanny Ballentine - Student Representative
Danny grew up in Northern NH in the small town of Dalton. He received his undergraduate B.S. from Johnson State College in Vermont in Behavioral Sciences—Wellness and Alternative Medicine. He is very passionate about social justice and have served in Americorps and the Peace Corps. Currently, he is a student at Franklin Pierce’s new Masters of Physician Assistant Studies Program. After graduating Danny is looking forward to working as a primary care PA in an under-served area of New Hampshire.

 


Janelle BosseJanelle Bosse - Student Representative
Janelle is a native of Hampden, Maine. She attended the University of New Hampshire in Durham and graduated with a B.S. in Biology focusing on Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior in 2006. Janelle enjoyed conducting field work locally, domestically and internationally. She lived in Madison, WI for three years before returning to New England to begin the Masters of Physician Assistant Studies program at MCPHS-Manchester.

When Janelle is not studying, she enjoys traveling, backpacking and ultimate frisbee.
